Today’s word 3-4-2011

The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD;
I am not guilty of turning from my God.
Psalms 18:20-21

Many people turn to God for help but they refuse to acknowledge their wrongdoings neither they understand that much of what is happening to them is precisely the result of their objectionable behavior. In many cases, God intervenes on behalf of those who cry out to him and rescues them. The problem arises when the person that has been rescued goes back to his/her previous behavior and once again he/she gets into serious trouble. These people often blame God for everything bad that happens to them but conveniently ignore him when things go fairly well. That attitude can only be described as contempt and disrespect for God. For these people, justice is whatever turns conditions to their favor, as if they were the center of the universe and everything else existed exclusively for their welfare.

Obviously, this kind of attitude can not be pleasing to God. God does not treat us as we deserve only because his mercy and his love balance and complement his righteousness.

We exist to carry out God’s plans. Many people behave as if God exists only to fulfill their personal plans. No wonder they live mired into all sorts of problems. Let us not imitate this unacceptable behavior. Our minds must be focused in God at all times, seeking his direction and trying to find ways to serve him. Let us put aside our fleshly interests and let us humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. Our Father will do the rest and we will be able to navigate the road ahead, attached to the principles and mandates of God, fulfilling his wonderful plans. To God alone be the glory!
