In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
Who is like you, LORD God Almighty?
You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
Many know that God is Almighty, but how many believe do that God is Almighty? There is a big difference between knowing and believing. He who knows bases his knowledge on physical evidence and is not content with just seeing, but looks for an explanation. He who knows is someone that quotes the Colombian-Venezuelan proverb that says: “When I say that the donkey (cat, pig) is black (brown) is because I have its hair in my hand.” He who knows, when he finds something that does not make sense, comes up with a theory and feels satisfied that he has found an explanation, however false or improbable it may be, not realizing that this requires an act of faith. One example of this reasoning is the explanation given by many scientists regarding the origin of the universe. They say everything comes from an explosion of ultra-dense matter. Big Bang they call it. They will not care to explain where that stuff that supposedly gave birth to the universe came from. He who knows thinks that there could be other almighty beings besides God Almighty.
On the other hand we have those who believe. He that believeth needs not physical evidence because his understanding is based on faith and faith is the “assurance about what we do not see.” For him who believes, the hints and indirect evidence that lead to God’s existence are sufficient and he knows that whoever “comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” As the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews wrote, “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” The believer’s view stands diametrically opposed to the position of he who just knows. Let us draw near to God with the certainty that He is Almighty and that there is nobody like Him. That is the correct attitude a worshiper must have. Let nothing take away the trust you have put unto Him. To God alone be the glory!
