Today’s word for April 10, 2011

Hear this, all you peoples;
listen, all who live in this world,
both low and high,
rich and poor alike:
Psalm 49:1-2

We must recognize that we have been privileged to own a firm hope, based not on fantasy but on spiritual realities, which source and foundation are the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Mount Calvary and his victory over death when he rose and conquered the grave. Thanks to advances in communication technology and the sustained efforts of missionary linguists translating the word of God to every known language, many have had access to the revelation of Him who is the only solution to all problems whatsoever. When I talk about solution to problems I’m not implying that they completely disappear, but that they may be seen in their true light and not as alleged mighty giants capable of producing panic and terror. There have always been and there will always be problems, mostly because we are sinful creatures seeking to satisfy our own passions. At any time one’s desires collide against the wishes of another and conflict arises with its inevitable problems. But with Jesus taking the reins of our life we have the guidance necessary to avoid most conflicts and to manage wisely those situations that can not be avoided.

This privileged way of enjoying life can not be kept to ourselves with selfishness but must be shared with others who we know are suffering because they lack the direction of our Savior. Everyone has problems. What better opportunity to offer a gesture of support and a word of hope based on God’s promises and our own experience of seeing them fulfilled? Let us ask the Lord Jesus for wisdom to share our testimony with those who are in trouble without our words sounding like meddling or feigned superiority. I am sure that God will grant us our request. To God alone be the glory!
