Today’s word for April 20, 2011

So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion
and his praise in Jerusalem
when the peoples and the kingdoms
assemble to worship the LORD.
Psalms 102:21-22

The word of God is clear about the future of the eternal Zion, the city of peace and of the Great King. She is reserved to be the center of the earth. Her majesty is not limited to the political realm but she will also be the spiritual center and financial hub of the new earth. Of course, like all things of creation, her importance does not lie in being the city chosen by God ─although this would be enough to consider her as very special─ but lies in the fact that she will the seat of the King’s throne. The same way as the never ridden donkey that carried on his back the Lord Jesus on his triumphal entry into Jerusalem remained in the memory of posterity, we who are his servants do not shine with our own light, but our glory is just a reflection the glory of our Lord. Over Zion and over all the people of God the fulfillment of the promises of wealth and prosperity that have been announced by the prophets of old will rain.

Over Jerusalem ─and over us children of God─ the dawn will shine, the glory of God will manifest, a guiding light to the nations will shine and the magnificent sunrise that will lead the kings of the earth will appear. As that day comes, our task is to pray for the peace of this beautiful city, the center of the universe, not by her own glory but because she is the headquarters of the glory of God to all peoples. Blessed is the city where all nations will bow at the feet of the Lord and be called “City of the Lord”, “Zion of the Holy One of Israel”. To God alone be the glory!
