Today’s word for April 22, 2011

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave.
Psalms 107:19-20

Something that the word of God often mentions is that God listens to his children and that He talks to them as well. The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews says, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.” The real needs of man were met by the definitive response of the presence of God among us: Emanuel. Not only He dwelt among us, “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.” said the apostle John, adding: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Why so many people wander trying to find the right direction for their lives? Three powerful enemies stand in the way of he who strives towards establishing a strong personal relationship with the Creator: Satan the enemy and destroyer, the flesh with its passions and excesses and finally the world with its false and misleading advertising.

If we walk with caution and remain alert to the dangerous situations in which any of these three enemies, alone or in collusion, could take advantage of us to make us fall, with God’s help we can move forward without encountering major obstacles in the path of a close and revitalizing relationship with our Father. With our eyes focused on our goal, with the help of the mighty hand of God and with much determination and courage, let us march toward that moment “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.” For this we have been redeemed by Christ. To God alone be the glory!
