Today’s word for April 24, 2011

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

In these postmodern times when all sorts of religious beliefs claim to be considered a true and valid way to God and where even atheists have tried to establish their own belief system with unusual energy, including trying to control what people may believe, Apostle Paul’s words sum up the hope of all who have been born again and have established a personal relationship with God that goes beyond life and death. The victory over death achieved by our Lord Jesus Christ at the now empty tomb makes clear to all dominions, authorities and powers that the Creator reigns and that victory will reach its culmination when our bodies are transformed into incorruptible and spiritual bodies and death is totally destroyed.

The indisputable fact of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus allows us to maintain the hope of seeing all our loved ones who have died in Christ and of living with them forever in the presence of our loving God. The resurrection of Christ tells us that we can live in peace and without fear for death has no jurisdiction over us and even if we have to sleep in Christ, it will be only for a short time until the commanding voice of the Lord orders our awakening with incorruptible bodies. Let us strengthen our hope and share it with others the vision that only someone who has been saved may have. To God alone be the glory!
