Today’s word for April 26, 2011

My righteousness draws near speedily,
my salvation is on the way,
and my arm will bring justice to the nations.
The islands will look to me
and wait in hope for my arm.
Isaiah 51:5

Recent global events related to politics, security, environment and economy highlight as the times, slowly but surely, approach the moment in which creation as we know it will disappear in flames to make way for a new heaven and a new earth “where righteousness dwells.” Not surprisingly, the turbulence that has manifested itself in every corner of the earth is but a sign that the world is preparing to be transformed once and for all in the perfect and orderly creation that was announced by the prophets of God. However, the world will continue to live as if nothing were to happen as most of the people do not know God’s plans and some, who know them, simply ignore them. It will be as the prophet Isaiah said: «The Lord, the LORD Almighty, called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth. But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine! “Let us eat and drink,” you say, “for tomorrow we die!”»

When we see that these terrible things are happening all over the world we must redouble our efforts to make the gospel known to all, that is, the good news that we have a way to reach justice and salvation, and that this way is Christ Jesus. There is no point in being upset and distressed by what is happening. “This is just the beginning of sorrows.” Our responsibility is to keep watch, because we do not know what day our Lord will come. Thank God that His promises never fail. To God alone be the glory!

  1. Great post! I share your sentiments, “When we see that these terrible things are happening all over the world we must redouble our efforts to make the gospel known to all…” Yes, I agree, we must be mindful of the state this world has been in and is in, and for this reason it now becomes more critical to increase efforts that will tip the polarity toward a shared vision of life, unity, and prosperity despite the planet’s natural life-cycle, (all that is composed will decompose) depleting energy sources and a growing industrial population. Yet, I am concerned when we take the position of waiting for “the Lord to come,” for it is important to be vigilant but is also important to utilize our ability through our observations and actions to apply our God-ward talent and abilities to resolve life’s conundrum as the visionaries who lead the transition toward the reign of the higher divine qualities and away from the innate primal instinctual delusion indicative of the species that has prevailed unchecked for generations.

    • Wordofellema,
Thanks for your comments. Just one observation. I did not say that we need to wait for the Lord. He will come whenever he has planned to do so. I said we should should keep watch and redouble our efforts, that is, to work without distraction sharing the gospel and showing God’s love to everyone. So just to be clear about what I say, I will repeat it; there is only one way to God and this way is Jesus Christ, God’s Son, God himself, not just an “avatar”.
