Today’s word for June 7, 2011

The LORD foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Psalm 33:10-11

Stupid thing is that the people try to prosper and progress, leaving God aside. We are not talking about that governments should be religious. History is replete with instances in which these governments based on religious views (or atheistic views for that matter) have resulted in political and economic failure. What is important is that society as a whole maintains a high moral position supported by a faith and a blameless doctrine. Values such as integrity, honesty, excellence, service and respect should be an integral part of the social fabric so everybody can enjoy freedom, welfare and progress. Some countries prefer government styles that temporarily allow them to reap some success in the social and economic spheres but those eventually end in total failure because they can not be self-sustaining. Iron dictatorships and excessive centralization can give the impression that everything is under control but over time people begin to resent the authoritarianism and its inseparable companion, corruption. When the rigid structures of political and economic control crumble down, the people goes on a rampage to try to recover what it had long missed and freedom degenerates into licentiousness.

The principles and teachings available on the word of God can be of much help to those who have dedicated their lives to public service. All values needed to constructively lead a state administration are outlined in its pages with taste and wisdom. Do you work in public service? Do you want to do it with excellence and justice? Seek God and find support for your calling in the lessons that you can only receive from an analytical and assiduous reading of the Word of God. You’ll see how soon you will stand out above the others who only act viscerally and based on their corrupt understanding. To God alone be the glory!
