Dominion

Your sons will take the place of your fathers;
you will make them princes throughout the land.
Psalm 45:16

Part of the reason why we find ourselves in this earthly pilgrimage is that we are preparing for eternal life. Many of the situations we face every day are mere training exercises needed to help us develop the capabilities and skills that will enable us to successfully assume the responsibilities that we will carry in this new phase of our existence. Some passages from the Word of God suggest that part of our work will have to do with the performance of governmental functions. The apostle Peter tells us that we are a royal priesthood. The new song of the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders says, “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” The apostle Paul tells us that we will judge the world and even judge angels. To Timothy he said that if we endure we shall also reign with him [Christ].

We can see how we are getting ready to exercise justice, dominion and priesthood in that kingdom which God has prepared for all his children, in which dwell in that total joy because we will have a spiritual body free from corruption and we will always be in the presence of God and there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor pain. May our hope be that we will soon be enjoying all the promises the Lord Jesus prepared for those who have decided to follow in his footsteps and are guided by His loving hand. To God alone be the glory!
