The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
all the nations that forget God.
But God will never forget the needy;
the hope of the afflicted will never perish.
Some people try to make God disappear from the scene by looking for excuses to silence the voice of their conscience, which constantly reminds them that they are completely wrong. On the contrary, many people still trust in God despite the extremely serious situations they are going through. They may have lost their jobs; it is also possible that they are suffering serious hardship because they lack the financial means to feed themselves and their families or pay the debts that persevering and unmerciful creditors are trying to collect from them. Their situation is certainly one that leads to despair; nevertheless they keep waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises, knowing that He is faithful and that He always does what He says He will do. When the glorious solution to their temporary problems arrives, joy will erase all memories of those bitter moments when it looked like God had forgotten them. The righteous waits with hope for that moment when the mighty hand of God will turn his situation around. The wicked, however, rejects God or tries to forget Him, thinking that by doing this he will have no one to account to for his misdeeds.
Although the path you are threading right now looks grim and gloomy, just around the corner there is light that brings joy to every heart and compassion that heals all the wounds of the soul. May your hope never fade, may it remain alive and motivate you at all times to continue to go forward despite the obstacles and difficulties you may encounter. God is faithful and in Him you can anchor your hope, for He never disappoints anyone, on the contrary, He treats everybody with love and justice, even the wicked ones who want to forget about Him. To God alone be the glory!
