A person is praised according to their prudence,
and one with a warped mind is despised.
Here is an immediate return to the kind of life we are leading. Those who make their life a career to hurt others receive general contempt and when they try to fall in favor with others they never get a drop of sympathy. By contrast, to those who behave wisely there is an immediate reward of praise from the people. We are talking about genuine praise, popular gratitude for living an irreproachable life and for showing love and justice in all things that are undertaken. Many wicked men think they are doing very well because they confuse flattery with praise. They are the subject of deception on the part of those who stick to them in the interests of making a profit and at the same time they deceive themselves because they are quite desperate to receive an affection they never won and never will earn for they do everything wrong. Flattery is nothing but a lie dressed to pose as a compliment.
Seek, then, to live a life based on the heavenly wisdom that comes from God the Father, wisdom that grant us long life, which is more profitable than gold and silver, which is more valuable than rubies, which gives us honor, peace and joy. Want to enjoy this wisdom? She is at your fingertips. Just ask God and he will give it to you, for God gives generously to all without finding fault. In front of you there is a bifurcation: one road leads you down a path of justice that will bring you praise, the other road will take you down the path of evil which can only bring you pain and contempt. Which of the two roads will you choose? Look up to Jesus Christ, stick with him and he will help you stay faithful and on the right track. Only to God be the glory!
Listen to your father, who gave you life,
and do not despise your mother when she is old.
Buy the truth and do not sell it—
wisdom, instruction and insight as well.
The vast majority of people do not know how much of their education and personality they owe to their parents. Many believe that genetics does not play any role or has little influence on them at best. Also, they neglect the education they received from very early childhood, not to mention the love with which they were raised. As soon as they reach an age where they think they can make their own decisions without consulting their parents or having to take into account their teachings, they forget all the instruction they have received and allow themselves to be guided by the criteria of the world, the lies of Satan or the passions of the flesh. All the discipline and wisdom that they were inculcated from a tender age disappears. Pride makes them think they do not need anything or anyone to protect them or to let them progress in a hostile world.
The word of God shows us a totally different picture in which the children are respectful and obedient to their parents. The biblical model is the way established by God for the family to grow, consolidate and multiply. Contemporary society and its syncretistic philosophies have eroded the solid family base that prevailed for centuries. Not happy with all the damage it has caused, modern society continues to seek ways to achieve its total destruction. A family can only thrive if there is respect and consideration between its members . Each family member has a role to play, parents teach and children learn. When this fails to happen the family is weakened and loses its influence as core and support of society. Let us receive the wisdom that comes from above and let us fight for the integrity and endurance of our families. To achieve this objective children play a key role when they honor their parents. Then, let us honor them! To God alone be the glory!
Then they despised the pleasant land;
they did not believe his promise.
They grumbled in their tents
and did not obey the LORD.
Some people who would like to believe in the promises of God and to be recipients of His blessings, find it very difficult to have faith even as small as a mustard seed. “Some people say they want to obey the commands of God, but as soon as they realize that there is something they ought to do, they start looking for an excuse or act dumb. None of these people realize the very close relationship there is between faith and obedience. If we do not have faith, what motivates us to obey? And if there is no willingness to obey what good is faith for? Faith without obedience is simple sanctimoniousness. Obedience without faith is just an act of mechanical compliance. Without faith there can be no true obedience and without obedience there is no demonstration of faith. Can you imagine Noah, Abraham, Moses, or any other distinguished member of the “Hall of Fame of Faith” failing to obey God’s instructions? What do you think James, the brother of the Lord Jesus, meant when he wrote “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead”?
Let us understand, then, the inseparable and dynamic relationship there is between faith and obedience in order to move forward in our spiritual journey and reach the goal which is Christ, “the pioneer and perfecter of faith” who “humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” Do not think that we will receive any of the blessings described in the promises of God if we do not follow the commandments that Jesus left us. Always keep in mind that obedience must be “obedefaith” and that true faith must be “faithdience.” Only to God be the glory!

The poor will see and be glad—
you who seek God, may your hearts live!
The LORD hears the needy
and does not despise his captive people.
Many people desperately seek wealth but are unaware that riches may generate more harm than good. The risk is evident; when one has much it is more likely to depend entirely on what we have at hand and to forget who made sure that such riches were at our disposal. There can be many reasons why God has not endowed us with money to spare. The first thing that comes to mind is that it’s very possible that we are not spiritually prepared to avoid becoming slaves to money. Wealth, like fame and power are the weapons used by the world against our souls. Through them, the world controls humanity.
When a child of God is entrusted with the task of managing the money that belongs to God, he/she becomes a commando. A commando is a soldier that integrates a special operations unit and is trained for operations behind enemy lines. These commandos are selected from among the most able soldiers and they receive special training that allows them to successfully fulfill their mission to infiltrate enemy territory. Not just anyone can serve as a commando. So is wealth, not everyone can act as good stewards of them.
Another reason why God has not given us a lot of money is because he will use us as witnesses. God wants children to depend on him and only on him. God wants us to be examples to the world that we can live without being affected the circumstances in which we find ourselves. Let us learn to live content with what we have because he who has been faithful with little, God will give him much. Many soldiers of God shall carry out this testimony. Chances are that you and I are part of this regular group. Whether we perform as elite commandos or as regular soldiers, we must always rely on God and not on wealth because riches are vain and elusive. To God alone be the glory!
