For I am about to fall,
and my pain is ever with me.
I confess my iniquity;
I am troubled by my sin.
Psalms 38:17-18

It often surprises me the boldness with which some ─I include myself in this group ─ if not most of us come before God without confessing our sins and without having asked for forgiveness. We present ourselves as if nothing had happened, as innocent lambs, when in fact our sinful nature has been responsible of violating the precepts that God has given us to live a holy life. Sometimes God has to put us in extreme situations so we can realize our sinfulness and of course, this results in something that is not very nice to us. God loves us and as our Father he disciplines us so we may learn to be people full of integrity and moral authority.

Let us constantly review our lives and identify those areas in which we are failing. Let’s take our weaknesses to the throne of grace of God and let us act in a way our repentance shows. In this way we will be rid of the heavy burden of guilt and avoid the anguish that tries to dominate us. As an additional benefit in some cases we will receive health and in others we will find the solution to those problems that seemed to have no way out. Let us not miss the plank that is hosted in our eye and makes it difficult for us to see. May God speak to us and tell us where we are not behaving up to standard. He will respond with tenderness and love and show us the way for us to follow. To God alone be the glory!

The blessing of the LORD brings wealth,
without painful toil for it.
Proverbs 10:22

Some have made of their existence a race to accumulate steadily as much money as possible to somehow ensure they will have covered all their needs when they quit work and stop collecting a paycheck. They are not only concerned with acquiring wealth, but also strive for not spending a single penny that is not fully justified. Unfortunately, these people on top of accumulating wealth, they build upon themselves the consequences of their misdeeds because their sole purpose has been the hoarding of capital and everything else has been relegated because of their ambition. Others do not aspire to become millionaires but live worried all the time, thinking how to achieve the necessary funds for their livelihood.

True riches are attained only through the blessing of God. He gives to each one according to his wonderful purpose, ie some get much and others get little, depending on their administrative capacities and therefore we should never worry about money because he cares for us. The riches that God gives us represent far beyond than simple monetary treasures. More important things such as love, joy, peace, wisdom, safety, health, purpose, stability and life itself are part of the treasure that God has prepared for the enjoyment of those who have placed their trust in the Lord’s name. Nobody, not even the wicked has been enriched by being concerned. So trust in the Lord and follow his advice: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” [1] Our heavenly Father knows our needs and he provides for them in abundance. To God alone be the glory!
