Real hope

We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.
Psalms 33:20-22

Ignorance is something quite dangerous. People who do not know God ─ and even many who do─ are naturally willing to put their hope in anything or anyone. This is how many unscrupulous politicians ─ which one is not? ─ take advantage of this feature of the human race to exploit the ignorant people. Which, by the way it is something that also white-collar crooks do. People put their hope in politicians, warlords, social programs, campaign promises, the lottery jackpot, offers of healing, easy methods to achieve happiness, weight-loss products, saints, witches, horoscopes, psychics, herbs to increase sexual potency, girdles to improve the female figure, creams to remove wrinkles , perfumes to attract mates, capsules that solve all kinds of health problems such as dandruff at the top and corns at the bottom and all that lies between these two afflictions including caries, colitis, cancer and cataracts and financial plans to become a millionaire in a very short time. When people have needs, whoever comes with any offer, whether true or false, will be received with joy and people will pay close attention to him. Whatever the deceiver says , the needy and dispossessed will put their hope in the hope trafficker because they are unaware of who is the only real hope.

Let us stop dreaming and fantasizing and let us put our feet on the ground. The solution is not to create policies to try to solve the problems of society to improve the living conditions of man. Rather, the solution is to transform man so that he in turn transforms society and we can all live in a better world. Neither politics nor religion can do anything for man. Only Jesus Christ has the solution in his hands, dealing with men, one at a time to achieve their transformation by the renewing of their mind and with the love without limits shown on the cross of Mount Calvary. Christ is the only solution, period. Put your hope in him alone. To God alone be the glory!

Wisdom, Knowledge & Understanding

For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Proverbs 2:6-8

Oftentimes our heavenly Father protects us by blocking physical and personal attacks that the enemy of our souls constantly hurls at us. Other times, he grants us wisdom, knowledge and understanding so we can realize the dangers that beset us in our journey through this world. That wisdom, that knowledge and understanding are not things that can be achieved through academic studies. Rather, they are gifts that are received as part of the training that God provides to those who are sincerely committed to carrying out the plans God has for them. This requires walking in constant communication with God and we can only do this by approaching him through the daily and constant reading of his Word and through the conversation we establish with him every time we pray. To say we love God and not to be attentive to and willing to obey his instructions is deceiving ourselves and there is no better definition of a fool than he who is self-deceived.

Let us maintain ourselves forever in the path of justice, integrity, good conduct and faithfulness to God. When our Father sees that we are sincerely committed to the coming and the establishment of his kingdom, he will enable us so we can become useful tools in their hands. Remember at all times that the focus should be on him and not on us. So let us not put so much emphasis on the problems we face and let’s turn our eyes to the One who has the solution in his hands. Let us direct, therefore, the batteries toward the fulfillment of God’s perfect will in our lives. With the help of our Lord Jesus Christ and his Spirit success will come easily. To God alone be the glory!

Path

You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.
Psalm 18:35-36

When we march at the very center of the path that God has designed for us, his children, we see that our walk has, among other things, the following attributes: protection, support, prosperity and swiftness. We are protected because we are highly regarded in the eyes of God. We have been bought with a price and a very high price, may we add. God will not let what has cost him so much to be lost for not having it protected. So he zealously cares for his valuable acquisition at all times. Remember that God guards his people as the apple of his eye. The second attribute is support. God gives us strength and energy to carry out any activity, however heavy it may be, necessary to establish his kingdom. Our strength will be renewed day by day so that we can undertake great things with which we can exalt the name of God.

The third quality is prosperity. When we speak of prosperity we are not referring to the much-touted financial prosperity some promise peddlers offer with their sweetened messages to exploit the gullible. Prosperity is to move ahead with speed along the path we have defined to achieve the milestones and objectives of the plan of God for our life. Our progress will be consistent and in the right direction. The fourth quality is swiftness. With our feet treading on a paved road we can move unimpeded, smoothly and without any difficulties. When things come from God, they come about with amazing facility and we are often surprised at how swift and unexpectedly events occur. Armed with all this amazing help, let us move along the path that God has prepared for us and let us rely on his protection, support, kindness and preparedness. To God alone be the glory!

Today’s word for June 30, 2011

Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
Proverbs 30:5-6

Those who have placed their trust in the promises contained in the word of God are first hand witnesses that the word has never disappointed them. The word of God has always proven to be true and trustworthy. A modern version of Scripture says that “every word of God has stood the test of fire.” If something has gone wrong for someone who has put his faith in the word of God, it is likely that the cause of this failure is due to inappropriate attitude or wrong purposes. When the vast majority of people buy a new device, electrical or mechanical, they hardly take a look at the manual of operation thinking that they do not need to read the instructions and warnings in the manual because the operation of the device in question is very simple and well known. There have been many cases in which the incorrect operation of a device has resulted in harm to the user or destruction of the utensil. The same goes for humans. The Bible is the manual operation of man. Those who ignore, intentionally or unintentionally, the instructions compiled in this book for the benefit of mankind end up hurting themselves or those around them.

Do you live your life according to the principles contained in the word of God? Do you consult daily on the Word of God which path to take and what attitude to present toward life? Do you go along with the influences of a world that only seeks to destroy you and your loved ones? You know what the Lord expects of you? Ignoring the decrees and teachings of the Word of God can lead you to material and spiritual ruin. Why ignore the promises that have proven reliable again and again? Do not ignore or twist the meaning of the teachings God has prepared for us and has given us through his trusty word. Doing so involves serious risk. Trust in God and his word and never be disappointed. To God alone be the glory!
